Greenbank Cottage, a lovely little property in Gifford came to us in the Summer of 2021. When we took on this property we could see just from the outside that this East Lothian home could make a perfect holiday destination.
However, when we first arrived we knew that to make this property shine and show tourists and holidaymakers its worth, the interior would require some work!
About The Property
Greenbank Cottage is a charming 3-bed village green cottage situated in East Lothian, it’s arranged over 3 floors and comprises of an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. In the property are 2 comfortable double bedrooms and a family bedroom on the first floor, with a further double bedroom on the top floor.
What makes this property so ideal for tourists and travellers is how easily you can reach Edinburgh by car, a 35-minute drive and you’re there. If you’re looking to travel by rail, there are excellent links not far from the cottage.

Re-styling the Interior
At a first look, the furnishings looked drab and the whole feel of the quaint cottage felt flat. However, Rebecca and the HAT team never back down from a challenge and set about brightening the interior with modern furnishings and the addition of some colour throughout the property.
The plain, wooden living room table became an inviting place to sit and eat with friends and family with the addition of a centrepiece and colourful cushions.
The walls, styled with modern paintings and photography, bringing the property to life and adding some much-needed character.
Rebecca also went about adding some brightness to the bedrooms, keeping it simple with white sheets and pillowcases but carefully layering on lively bed throws and pillows to add some considered style into the room.
Take a look to see how Greenbank Cottage was transformed from drab to fab!
